Don Shula Autographed / Signed After Game Photo
Don Shula, the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, had just climbed down off the shoulders of his jubilant players after a 14-7 victory over Washington in Super Bowl VII. Now he was standing, atop a makeshift platform, accepting the Vince Lombardi Trophy from Commissioner Pete Rozelle while the hot television klieg lights blazed in his face.
And he was telling what that moment meant to him: "This is the greatest moment in my coaching life. I've had some great moments, but I've always felt that this was something I wanted and needed to accomplish. Now we can let the record speak for itself. We have gone unbeaten and won the big one -- and nobody else has done that.
"This is the ultimate."
