Gary Stevens Autographed / Signed 1998 Jockeys' Guild Card

Stevens began his career on the western tracks. He rode his first winner at LeBois Park in Idaho and held the riding title at Longacres from 1981 through 1984.

By 1985 Gary Stevens had moved on to the larger tracks and rode primarily in southern California. He may have made his name out west but is no stranger to the Triple Crown circuit. His victories in the Kentucky Derby began in 1988 aboard Winning Colors, followed by Thunder Gulch in 1995, and Silver Charm in 1997.

Stevens' final four seasons were particularly strong ones. Besides his Derby victory in 1995, he also won the Belmont Stakes (one of four victories), Swaps, Santa Anita Derby, Hopeful, Mother Goose, Haskell, Man o' War, Frizette, and Santa Anita Handicap.

In 1996 he piloted Serena's Song to victory in two more grade 1 races, took the Breeders' Cup mile on Da Hoss, the Canadian International on Singspiel, and the Super Derby on Editor's Note. More recently he won the 1997 Kentucky Derby and the Preakness with Silver Charm; and the 1998 Belmont Stakes with Victory Gallop.
