Red Holzman Autographed / Signed 3x5 Card. Basketball fans who fondly recall the magic the New York Knicks brought to the NBA in the 1970s will automatically recall the names of Reed, Frazier, Bradley, DeBusschere, Monroe and Lucas. But the orchestrator of New York's success during that era was William "Red" Holzman. Holzman was a street-wise basketball "gym rat" who mastered his trade in basketball's post-war era. After graduating from CCNY in 1942 and serving a three-year military stint, Holzman embarked on a nine-year professional career. Eight of those years were spent with the Rochester Royals of the NBL, BAA and NBA. Playing for and with fellow Hall of Famers Les Harrison, Bob Davies and Al Cervi with the Royals, Holzman became a true student of the game. That formidable group won the NBL championship in 1946 and the NBA championship in 1951, making "Red" one of only 10 players to win championships as a player and coach.
