Hollywood Collectibles is sad to report that former NBA player Lorenzen Wright has been found dead at the age of 34. Wright, who was missing for 10 days, was last seen on July 18 when he was expected to take a flight out of town. His family filed a missing person report on July 22nd. On the 28th, Wright’s body was found in a wooded area in Memphis, Tennessee. Wright played for various NBA teams from 1996 to 2009, including the LA Clippers, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wright’s family said in a statement, “Lorenzen’s family has come together to mourn his loss and honor his legacy. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and condolences as they are comforting at this very difficult time. Additionally, we ask that you please respect our privacy as we try to cope with his sudden loss.” Penny Hardaway, another former NBA star, said, “I cried. The emotions hit me immediately. It’s just sad because we lost a good person and a brother.”

Tiger Woods Still Highest-Earning Athlete
Thirty-four year old golfing great Tiger Woods is still the highest-paid American athlete, according to a recent analysis by Sports Illustrated. Despite having been bombarded by the media for months because of his highly publicized marital infidelity, Woods is still earning above $90 million per year. Woods lost various high-profile endorsements earlier this year, including that of Gatorade, because of all the negative media attention that surrounded him. Because of his lost sponsorships, he is down $22 million from last year, but he still ranks above such athletes as Kobe Bryant, Derek Jeter, and Floyd Mayweather Jr. A 14-time Majors champion , Woods has been ranked as the World’s number 1 golfer since June of 2005. He is the all-time leader in most accumulated weeks ranked at Number 1, with 609. He is undeniably one of the most accomplished athletes in the world, and he currently seems to be returning to top form. So it is not too surprising that he is still the highest-earning American athlete.
Your one-stop shop for all Tiger Woods memorabilia, Hollywood Collectibles offers a great selection of Tiger Woods autographs, signed Tiger Woods photos, and other Tiger Woods memorabilia. With autographed Tiger Woods memorabilia, you can celebrate the career of one of the greatest American athletes of all time. To put it simply, Hollywood Collectibles is the source for Tiger Woods autographs, photos, and other memorabilia.
Mayweather Misses Pacquiao’s Deadline
The management on both sides of a potential Pacquiao-Mayweather fight had agreed on the terms of the match-up. All that was left was for undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. to sign off on the deal by an early Saturday deadline. If he gave the O.K., the two greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the world would battle each other on November 13 in what could have been the richest fight in boxing history. So what happened when that deadline was reached? Nothing. According to a report from the Associated Press, Mayweather and his camp let the deadline pass with no word on whether Mayweather intended to sign off on the fight of the decade. Mayweather, who was in Miami this weekend as a guest at Alonzo Mourning’s Summer Groove Event, said, “I’m not interested in rushing to do anything. I’m not really thinking about boxing right now. I’m just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I’m just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation.” Pacquiao, apparently eager to fight, said that he will fight on November 13 for sure, regardless of who is opponent will be.
Hollywood Collectibles offers Manny Pacquiao memorabilia, Floyd Mayweather memorabilia, and other autographed boxing memorabilia. Penny Hardaway to Join Miami Heat?
Will thirty-eight year old former Miami Heat member Penny Hardaway be the next player to join Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh in Miami? The 4-time NBA All-Star, who turns 39 on Sunday, recently told “The Bottom Line Sports Show,” an online radio show, “I didn’t get a chance to finish my career the way I wanted. I can understand where Michael Jordan was coming from coming out of retirement a couple times… When you still have something in the tank it’s really hard to let it go.” Apparently in lament of the fact that he didn’t retire fully satisfied, Hardaway admits that his desire to re-join the Heat is directly related with the relatively recent announcements of Chris Bosh and LeBron James to join Dwyane Wade in Miami; “Mentally I was retired and physically I was retired. I was playing recreational ball,” said Hardaway. “But when the decision happened with Chris Bosh and LeBron [James], I felt like I could really be good in that system.” The question is, however, does Hardaway have enough gas left in his tank to be an attractive option for the Miami Heat? What unique potential does he bring to the table? What do YOU think?

Zydrunas Ilgauskas to Join Miami Heat
Thirty-five year old free agent Zydrunas Ilgauskas may be the next NBA star to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Miami Heat. A 2-time NBA All-Star, Ilgauskas will be signing a two-year deal with the Heat later this week, according to his agent Herb Rudoy. “Once LeBron signed there [i.e., Miami], LeBron [James] started recruiting him,” said Rudoy. Ilgauskas said, “LeBron was very encouraging and explained the whole situation. And, obviously, he’s my friend, and him being there made it a lot easier to choose.” King James tweeted, “Glad u are joining me in South Beach my friend.” About the decision, Rudoy commented, “It’s been 14 years. It was very hard for him… But he wants to win a championship. That’s how he made this decision.” Will Ilgauska’s decision to leave Cleveland for Miami be the cause of another angry open letter from Cavs owner Dan Gilbert? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Shortly after his death, the Steinbrenner family said in a statement, “It is with profound sadness that the family of George M. Steinbrenner III announces his passing. He passed away this morning in Tampa, Fla., at age 80… He was a visionary and a giant in the world of sports. He took a great but struggling franchise and turned it into a champion again.” A true baseball icon, George Steinbrenner was known as “The Boss” because of his demanding personality, which helped the Yankees win 7 World Series titles and 11 American League Pennants during his ownership. And, after six years of waiting, the celebrity couple finally tied the knot on Saturday night at the Cipriani restaurant in Manhattan, NY. According to People.com, the wedding ceremony was filmed and will be aired on a VH1 reality show that follows the couple. Among the many famous guests who attended the ceremony were such famous sports figures as LeBron James, Chris Paul, Serena Williams, A’mare Stoudemire, and Lamar Odom; and such Hollywood celebs as Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Justin Timberlake, Spike Lee, and Ludacris. An apparently exuberant Vasquez wrote on her Twitter page after the wedding, “Best night of my entire life. Thank u to all my family and friends who shared tonight with me. I love u. LeBron James to Join Miami Heat
On Thursday night, 2-time NBA MVP LeBron James announced that he will be joining the Miami Heat. During a one-hour televised ESPN special called “The Decision,” James explained that the decision to leave Cleveland was very hard, “But the things that the Miami Heat franchise have done, to free up cap space and be able to put themselves in a position this summer to have all three of us [i.e., James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh], it was hard to turn down. Those are two great players, two of the greatest players that we have in this game today.” The reaction to this long-awaited announcement? Wade, who will soon be teaming up with James on the court, said, “”It’s going to be crazy… There’s magic in the number 3.” Chris Bosh tweeted, “I’m on cloud 9 right now! This is like a dream come true to play with” Wade and James. But not everyone is so excited about King James’ decision. In an open letter posted on the official Cleveland Cavaliers website, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert wrote, “Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us… You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal… I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE.” Talk about bitter. Despite the criticism that James is already receiving and will continue to receive for his decision to leave Cleveland, one thing seems certain: the Miami Heat will be an exciting team to watch next season.
To celebrate the decisions of Wade and Bosh (and now James) to play for the Miami Heat next season, Hollywood Collectibles is having a 33% off sale on all Dwyane Wade memorabilia and Miami Heat memorabilia. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are expected to get the maximum amount allowable under the league’s collective bargaining agreement, though the addition of James could change the players’ salaries. Although it is confirmed that Dwayne Wade will stay with the Miami Heat and Chris Bosh will join them contracts cannot be officially signed until July 8. Bosh could earn $125 million over six years via sign-and-trade, but only $96 million over five without it.
