Lakers Take 2-1 Lead in Finals
The Los Angeles Lakers have taken the first lead in the 2010 NBA Finals with a 91-84 defeat of the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Not very surprisingly, Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points; he also recorded 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. But many would say that, despite not leading the Lakers in any major statistical category, guard Derek Fisher was the really Los Angeles star. With 5-for-7 shooting in the fourth quarter, Fisher provided the energy that the Lakers needed in order to secure their victory during the final stretch of the game. The Celtics started the game with great energy, taking an early lead that suggested they might take advantage of the fact that they were playing at home for the first time in the series. But then the Lakers went on a 15-1 run from which Boston could never fully recover. Perhaps most surprisingly, just one game after setting the all-time NBA Finals record for most three-pointers made in a single game with 8, Ray Allen went 0 for 13, including 8 missed three-pointers. Kevin Garnett, who was rather ineffective in the first two games turned it up, leading the Celtics scoring with 25 points. Unfortunately, Garnett’s breakthrough performance of this series was simply not enough. The Lakers now lead the 2010 NBA Finals series 2-1, but the next 2 games will also be in Boston, so the Celtics still have some leeway. Game 2 can be seen on ABC Thursday at 9:00 PM ET.
Hollywood Collectibles offers a great collection of basketball memorabilia, including both Boston Celtics memorabilia and Los Angeles Lakers memorabilia. Don’t miss the chance to get your dad a great gift for Father’s Day, especially now that we are having a 15% off Father’s Day sale!
Ray Allen Makes NBA Finals History
We hope you didn’t miss Ray Allen’s record-breaking performance during Game 2 of the 2010 NBA Finals. But in case you did… Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics made NBA Finals history on Sunday by scoring the most three-pointers ever made in a Finals Game with 8. Amazingly, Allen scored the first seven three-pointers (thereby tying the all-time record aforementioned) before the end of the first half! But that’s not all. They were all consecutive shots! There is no better way to describe the historic performance than with the word ‘incredible.’ Allen is well-known, of course, for being an immensely talented and consisted three-point shooter (he currently trails only Reggie Miller for the all-time career record for most three-pointers made in regular season games), so the first three or four consecutive three-pointers that he made were not particularly surprising (even though they were as impressive as always). But when the fifth … and sixth… and seventh straight shot was made, you started to realize that you were watching NBA history being written by one of the greatest shooters of all time.
Would you like to own Ray Allen memorabilia? With basketball memorabilia from Hollywood Collectibles, you can memorialize the amazing achievements of your favorite players. We are currently having a 15% off Father’s Day sale, and with the NBA Finals in full swing, now is a great time to buy some great authentic signed sports memorabilia.
The Magic and Howard Extend the Series
On Tuesday, we wondered whether the Orlando Magic still have a chance to win their Eastern Conference Finals series against the highly talented Boston Celtics. After having lost the first 3 games of the series (including 2 at Orlando), things weren’t looking so good for Orlando, who have yet to win an NBA Finals title (the Celtics franchise claims 17 Finals titles). It also doesn’t help that no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 0-3 playoff series deficit to win. But, despite all of this, the Magic repeated their Monday victory with another impressive win on Wednesday, this time beating the Celtics by 113-92 (a bigger point difference than their 96-92 victory on Monday). Dwight Howard, who led the Magic with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots, said, “I just feel that if we keep believing in each other and trusting one another and playing as hard as we can, anything’s possible.” Some might say that the Magic had it a bit easy in Game 5, considering all the detrimental issues that faced the Celtics, including 2 player concussions, foul trouble, and a player’s ejection from the game. It is doubtful, however, that the Orlando victory in Game 5 was nothing more than a fluke, since the Magic beat the Celtics on Tuesday when the Celtics didn’t have any of those issues plaguing their concentration. But the question still remains. Can Orlando defy all odds and win this series? We will just have to wait and see.
Looking for Orlando Magic memorabilia? Hollywood Collectibles carries tons of great basketball collectibles, including plenty of sports memorabilia items that are hand-signed by various NBA playoff stars, including Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash, and others. These autographed basketball memorabilia items make great gifts for sports fans and for basketball memorabilia collectors.
Do the Orlando Magic Still Have a Chance?
On Monday night, the Orlando Magic beat the Boston Celtics 96-92 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Dwight Howard stepped up his game, after a relatively unimpressive first 3 games, leading his team in scoring with 32 and leading both teams in rebounds with 16 and in blocks with 4. Jameer Nelson also played a key role, delivering 9 assists and making two back-to-back clutch 3-pointers in overtime to help the Magic win the game. The impressive Orlando victory (which occurred at Boston) prevented a 4-0 Celtics series sweep and has many people wondering if the Magic still have a chance at winning the series. No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 0-3 playoff series deficit to win, but like Magic guard J.J. Reddick says, “You never know what can happen. We can be like the Red Sox, coming back from 0-3. You never know.” In fact, only 4 times in the entire history of North American professional sports leagues has a team come back from such a deficit to win, so the odds are really not in the Magic’s favor, but the Magic do not seem like they are giving up just yet. Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy said, “At some point, somebody is going to come from 3-0 down and win a series. The only thing I knew for sure was it would start by winning Game 4.”

Paul Pierce Out with Thumb Injury and Flu
Suffering from both a right thumb injury and the flu, Paul Pierce will miss his second consecutive game tonight. The first game that he sat out for was a Tuesday night victory over the Knicks. Tonight, however, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are heading to Boston. The Celtics will face a much greater challenge as they attempt to defeat the Cavs without their leading scorer.
Celtics fans will be pleased to know that Hollywood Collectibles has an impressive inventory of authentic Paul Pierce memorabilia. We offer several autographed photos, a rookie card, and even a 2008 NBA Championship basketball signed by the entire team, including Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen. All of our sports memorabilia comes with a certificate of authenticity backed by www.hollywoodcollectibles.com.
Rondo deal worth at $55M
Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has reached an impressive contract extension agreement. His agent recently confirmed that the contract extension will be worth a staggering $55 million over the next five years.
“I’m excited, thankful, humbled,” Rondo said. “Nothing changes, though. There’s still one goal in mind. It’s a great opportunity, but I’m focused on winning a championship.” We Wish the Boston Celtics luck with the season.
