With a 92-86 defeat of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, the Boston Celtics have put themselves in a great position for the rest of the 2010 NBA Finals. Taking their first lead of the series, the Celtics are now only one game away from winning the Finals; they are also only one game away from putting an end to Lakers coach Phil Jackson’s impressive 47-0 streak of winning a playoff series after winning Game 1, which the Lakers did in this series. Kobe Bryant had an amazing game, scoring half of his 38 points in the first 8 minutes of the third quarter! But, unfortunately for the Lakers, it was just not enough. When it was starting to look like the 2008 Finals MVP would never get into a consistent rhythm, Paul Pierce finally had his breakthrough game of the series, scoring 27 points. Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett scored 18 points each. The final two games of this series will be played in Los Angeles, so while they are in a good position to win their 18th franchise NBA Finals title, the Celtics will have to demonstrate some mental toughness, especially considering that they only won by six points after having played their best game of the series.
