Basketball legend Michael Jordan will present Scottie Pippen at Pippen’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday. Pippen, who played alongside Jordan in the 1990’s Bulls lineup that won 6 NBA Finals titles, said on the Bulls website, “”I can’t think of a better person to do it. Michael is someone I shared my career with, accomplishing most of what I have accomplished thus far. He was a great teammate, teacher and admirer. I’m excited to have an opportunity to be the first person that he has presented into the Hall of Fame. I figure if anyone deserves to be on the stage with me, it’s him.” Like Jordan, Pippen is a 6-time NBA Finals champion. He is also a 7-time NBA All-Star, a 2-time Olympic Gold medalist, and a member of the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time team. “It’s a very exciting week for me, and I’m ready to embrace it all,” said Pippen. “It signifies closing the book on my playing career, so I want to take a deep breath, cherish it, and be thankful.”
Luckily for Chicago Bulls fans, Hollywood Collectibles carries a great selection of Chicago Bulls memorabilia, including such special items as a Michael Jordan autographed jersey and a Scottie Pippen signed photo. Each of these great memorabilia items comes with a certificate of authenticity and would make an excellent addition to any basketball memorabilia collection.

NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony and LaLa Vasquez, the celebrity couple that tied the knot on July 10th, recently came back from honeymooning in Costa Rica, and it seems that they had an amazing time together. “Mel and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon! It was such a fun trip, I would recommend it to anyone,” wrote Vasquez on her official website. “From fishing to ziplining, there was so much to do. The food there is incredible, which is why I’m back in the gym BIG TIME..LOL!” Appropriately enough, LaLa posted a picture of 3-time NBA All-Star “Melo” holding two fishes and a picture of herself ziplining. This happy pair, who already have a son together, truly look like a great couple.

Wright, who was missing for 10 days, was last seen on July 18 when he was expected to take a flight out of town. His family filed a missing person report on July 22nd. On the 28th, Wright’s body was found in a wooded area in Memphis, Tennessee. Wright played for various NBA teams from 1996 to 2009, including the LA Clippers, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wright’s family said in a statement, “Lorenzen’s family has come together to mourn his loss and honor his legacy. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and condolences as they are comforting at this very difficult time. Additionally, we ask that you please respect our privacy as we try to cope with his sudden loss.” Penny Hardaway, another former NBA star, said, “I cried. The emotions hit me immediately. It’s just sad because we lost a good person and a brother.”

Thirty-five year old free agent Zydrunas Ilgauskas may be the next NBA star to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Miami Heat. A 2-time NBA All-Star, Ilgauskas will be signing a two-year deal with the Heat later this week, according to his agent Herb Rudoy. “Once LeBron signed there [i.e., Miami], LeBron [James] started recruiting him,” said Rudoy. Ilgauskas said, “LeBron was very encouraging and explained the whole situation. And, obviously, he’s my friend, and him being there made it a lot easier to choose.” King James tweeted, “Glad u are joining me in South Beach my friend.” About the decision, Rudoy commented, “It’s been 14 years. It was very hard for him… But he wants to win a championship. That’s how he made this decision.” Will Ilgauska’s decision to leave Cleveland for Miami be the cause of another angry open letter from Cavs owner Dan Gilbert? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Among the many famous guests who attended the ceremony were such famous sports figures as LeBron James, Chris Paul, Serena Williams, A’mare Stoudemire, and Lamar Odom; and such Hollywood celebs as Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Justin Timberlake, Spike Lee, and Ludacris. On Thursday night, 2-time NBA MVP LeBron James announced that he will be joining the Miami Heat. During a one-hour televised ESPN special called “The Decision,” James explained that the decision to leave Cleveland was very hard, “But the things that the Miami Heat franchise have done, to free up cap space and be able to put themselves in a position this summer to have all three of us [i.e., James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh], it was hard to turn down. Those are two great players, two of the greatest players that we have in this game today.” The reaction to this long-awaited announcement? Wade, who will soon be teaming up with James on the court, said, “”It’s going to be crazy… There’s magic in the number 3.” Chris Bosh tweeted, “I’m on cloud 9 right now! This is like a dream come true to play with” Wade and James. But not everyone is so excited about King James’ decision. In an open letter posted on the official Cleveland Cavaliers website, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert wrote, “Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us… You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal… I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE.” Talk about bitter. Despite the criticism that James is already receiving and will continue to receive for his decision to leave Cleveland, one thing seems certain: the Miami Heat will be an exciting team to watch next season.
To celebrate the decisions of Wade and Bosh (and now James) to play for the Miami Heat next season, Hollywood Collectibles is having a 33% off sale on all Dwyane Wade memorabilia and Miami Heat memorabilia. Don’t miss out on this great chance to buy some great basketball memorabilia at a great price!

With a 92-86 defeat of the
Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, the
Boston Celtics have put themselves in a great position for the rest of the 2010 NBA Finals. Taking their first lead of the series, the Celtics are now only one game away from winning the Finals; they are also only one game away from putting an end to Lakers coach Phil Jackson’s impressive 47-0 streak of winning a playoff series after winning Game 1, which the Lakers did in this series.
Kobe Bryant had an amazing game, scoring half of his 38 points in the first 8 minutes of the third quarter! But, unfortunately for the Lakers, it was just not enough. When it was starting to look like the 2008 Finals MVP would never get into a consistent rhythm,
Paul Pierce finally had his breakthrough game of the series, scoring 27 points. Rajon Rondo and
Kevin Garnett scored 18 points each. The final two games of this series will be played in Los Angeles, so while they are in a good position to win their 18th franchise NBA Finals title, the Celtics will have to demonstrate some mental toughness, especially considering that they only won by six points after having played their best game of the series.
A long-time leader in the sports memorabilia industry, Hollywood Collectibles offers a great selection of signed basketball memorabilia, including signed jerseys, autographed basketballs, signed photos, autographed sports cards, and more. Each of these items comes with a certificate of authenticity and, since we are currently having a 15% off Father’s Day sale, now is a great time to buy autographed memorabilia.

No team in NBA Finals history has ever overcome a 3-1 series deficit to win. Fortunately for the Boston Celtics, they do not have to worry about that, because they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 96-89 on Thursday to tie the series 2-2. The Celtics bench players (which include Glen Davis, Rasheed Wallace, Tony Allen, and Nate Robinson) were the real stars of the game, outscoring the Lakers bench 36-18. In fact, they played so well that, according to Boston coach Doc Rivers, ” [Rajon] Rondo and the rest of them, they were begging me to keep guys in. ‘Don’t take them out! Don’t take them out!’ It was great. That’s the loudest I’ve seen our bench, and it was the starters cheering from the bench.” With one more home game coming up on Sunday, the Celtics are in a great position to take their first lead of the series in Game 5. Will the Celtics be able to break Phil Jackson’s popular 47-0 record of not losing a playoff series when his team wins Game 1? We will have to wait until at least Game 6 to know the answer to that question, but Game 5 could definitely put the Celtics on a great path to break that record.
Hollywood Collectibles is having a 15% Father’s Day sale, so now is a great time to buy sports memorabilia, either for yourself or as a gift for a basketball fan. We offer Boston Celtics memorabilia, Los Angeles Lakers memorabilia, and much more basketball memorabilia.

The Los Angeles Lakers have taken the first lead in the 2010 NBA Finals with a 91-84 defeat of the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Not very surprisingly, Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points; he also recorded 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. But many would say that, despite not leading the Lakers in any major statistical category, guard Derek Fisher was the really Los Angeles star. With 5-for-7 shooting in the fourth quarter, Fisher provided the energy that the Lakers needed in order to secure their victory during the final stretch of the game. The Celtics started the game with great energy, taking an early lead that suggested they might take advantage of the fact that they were playing at home for the first time in the series. But then the Lakers went on a 15-1 run from which Boston could never fully recover. Perhaps most surprisingly, just one game after setting the all-time NBA Finals record for most three-pointers made in a single game with 8, Ray Allen went 0 for 13, including 8 missed three-pointers. Kevin Garnett, who was rather ineffective in the first two games turned it up, leading the Celtics scoring with 25 points. Unfortunately, Garnett’s breakthrough performance of this series was simply not enough. The Lakers now lead the 2010 NBA Finals series 2-1, but the next 2 games will also be in Boston, so the Celtics still have some leeway. Game 2 can be seen on ABC Thursday at 9:00 PM ET.
Hollywood Collectibles offers a great collection of basketball memorabilia, including both Boston Celtics memorabilia and Los Angeles Lakers memorabilia. Don’t miss the chance to get your dad a great gift for Father’s Day, especially now that we are having a 15% off Father’s Day sale!

We hope you didn’t miss Ray Allen’s record-breaking performance during Game 2 of the 2010 NBA Finals. But in case you did… Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics made NBA Finals history on Sunday by scoring the most three-pointers ever made in a Finals Game with 8. Amazingly, Allen scored the first seven three-pointers (thereby tying the all-time record aforementioned) before the end of the first half! But that’s not all. They were all consecutive shots! There is no better way to describe the historic performance than with the word ‘incredible.’ Allen is well-known, of course, for being an immensely talented and consisted three-point shooter (he currently trails only Reggie Miller for the all-time career record for most three-pointers made in regular season games), so the first three or four consecutive three-pointers that he made were not particularly surprising (even though they were as impressive as always). But when the fifth … and sixth… and seventh straight shot was made, you started to realize that you were watching NBA history being written by one of the greatest shooters of all time.
Would you like to own Ray Allen memorabilia? With basketball memorabilia from Hollywood Collectibles, you can memorialize the amazing achievements of your favorite players. We are currently having a 15% off Father’s Day sale, and with the NBA Finals in full swing, now is a great time to buy some great authentic signed sports memorabilia.
