Buffalo Bills

About the Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have a long history of success, despite never having won a Super Bowl. Beginning in 1960 as an American Football League team, the Bills joined the NFL when the AFL and NFL merged a decade later. They won two consecutive AFL league championships during the 1960s and have a multitude of both division and conference championships. Led by O.J. Simpson, 1970-1977 was known as the “Electric Company” era for the Bills. With Simpson known as the “Juice,” the offensive line of Reggie McKenzie, Dave Foley, Mike Montler, Joe DeLamiellure, and Donnie Green were the “Electric Company.” In 1973, Simpson was voted league MVP and in 1974, the Bills made the NFL playoffs for the first time. 1986 would usher in another new era, as Jim Kelly joined the team as their quarterback and Marv Levy became the new head coach. From 1990-1993, Buffalo became the only team to ever play in four consecutive Super Bowls, despite losing them all. The Bills have recently experienced a fall from grace, having a decade with no playoff appearances. However, the franchise seems very promising, with general manager Buddy Nix and head coach Chan Gailey at the helm.
