With 7 Gold Glove Awards, 18 All-Star selections, an American League (AL) MVP title, and an All-Star Game MVP title to his name, Carl Yastrzemski is easily one of the most accomplished players in MLB history. Born in 1939, Yastrzemski began his major-league career in 1961 playing for the Boston Red Sox, with whom he played his entire 23-year career. By the time he retired in 1983, Yaz was the Red Sox’s all-time leader in career RBIs, runs, hits, single, doubles, and other categories. He was the first American League member of the 3,000-hit club to record over 400 home runs. In 1989, Carl Yastrzemski was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
