Eddie Eagan was an multifaceted American Olympic athlete and scholar. Most notably he is the only competitor who has ever won Olympic Gold Medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics in different events. He won the Boxing Light Heavyweight crown in the 1920 Antwerp, Belgium Games and was a member of the gold medal winning Four Man Bobsleigh team at the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. Outside of his athletic achievements, he attended Harvard Law School and Oxford and became a lawyer and was a Colonel in the US Army during World War II. He later served as the "sports chairman" of the People to People Sports Committee established by President Eisenhower in the early 1950's.
