1) Purchase all sports memorabilia from a reputable company

2) Make sure memorabilia dealer has been in business for a comfortable amount of time.

3) Make sure dealer gets their merchandise from a reputable distributor.

4) Establish relationship with memorabilia retailer to receive customer loyalty discounts.

5) Start slow - New collectors, don't come out of the gate buying everything you like - start small and slow.

6) Collector is responsible for educating themselves. Make educated decisions for your protection.

7) Utilize dealers who handle Public Signings, Public signings are a good way to ensure authentication.

8) If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

9) Look for dealers with competitive pricing - Ask dealer about price difference on similar items.

10) Make sure all memorabilia is signed with the proper writing implements, sharpies, ink colors, etc.
